Weeks of observation before a line is drawn. Water, wind, soil profile, the arc of the sun across a season, and everything already growing that deserves to stay.
Drawing
Hand plans and section studies, developed with you over a small number of unhurried conversations. Materials are chosen and sampled on site, in daylight.
Making
Construction with a fixed circle of masons, growers and craftspeople. Lara is on site through every phase, from first cut to final plant placement.
Stewardship
A written seasonal calendar and annual visits. Gardens are edited, not maintained — thinned, moved, allowed to change with the way you use them.
Sustainability, practised rather than stated
Water stays home
Rain gardens, swales and permeable surfaces keep runoff on the property.
Native first
Regional species carry the planting; ornamentals earn their place.
Soil is built
Compost, cover and no-dig methods instead of imported topsoil.
Low input
Planting matched to climate, so gardens need less water, fuel and interference.
